Expression of ETA in myometrium and placenta during pregnancy and parturition

【Abstract】 Ｏbjective To study the expression of endothelin receptor A (ETA) in myometrium and placental trophoblastic cells before and after labor onset.Ｍethods Sixty women at term pregnancy were devided into two groups according to whether they were in labor or not.Both groups included thirty women and they were all delivered by cesarean section.Expression of ETA in myometrium and placental trophoblastic cells were detected by immunohistochemical SABC method and computerized quantitative image analysis.Ｒesults Ｔhe expression of ETA in myometrium and placental trophoblastic cells in the group at labor onset was significantly higher than that in the group not at labor (Ｐ＜０01)．Ｃonclusion ETA may be involved in the initiation of parturition by regulating the contraction of myometrium and improving prostaglandins level.
